hmaly,

I'm just offering up information. It's a long article, there are more than a few things I disagree with.

The thing that strikes me as most interesting is the extent that private companies now benefit from wars. We've outsourced almost all of our military support, and that creates conflicts. I don't like the idea that war is good business, at the expense of taxpayers. It makes it too easy, similar to my argument for the draft (btw, Germany has a compulsory draft). War should be the most difficult decision a country can make, it should be a huge sacrifice for everyone.

It goes back to a warning by a real conservative and a great President, in his departing warning to the American people, "beware the military industrial complex". It could probably be altered these days to "beware the political industrial complex".
