They are coming after us and while not in great numbers they now have the powers to do a great deal without havning the scrutiny of public or judicial oversight.

The number of cases of abuses are few for now, but fear and safety have a way of eroding what we think is acceptable. And when we start to make it the law of the land that goes too far.

I think they could do all the wire tapping and eavesdropping they want but it should require rwview and oversight by other groups within the govt. The same with medical records, but again oversight and safeties to avoid abuse. Though I have to wonder how many terrorists are going to get caught by searching medical records. Seems odd.

I am sure if it were blatant everyone would be up in arms. But this is the slippery slope you hear so often about. Sure it seems fine now. So then the next scary event occurs and people are willing to give up a little more.

I would be no happier if the democrats were in office and as a motter of fact Edwards was one of the authors and I would need to understand his role before I voted for him.

I'll take the Patriot Act over the erosion of the 2nd Amendment.
