Some people think it is a sign of weakness (aka waffling) if you change your mind. Of course, it is actually a sign of 1) an open mind, and 2) strong character.

Whenever I hear someone suggest that Kerry waffles, I am reminded of the John Maynard Keynes quote (replying to an accusation of inconsistency): "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"

Weak minded people never get this. Take Bush, he never lets the facts get in his way!
