Marriage is an institution that gives some long term stability and security to children and therefore the future of society, since two people usually have more time and resources to raise children well than just one. Several families banding together leads to communities, tribes and clans. Then the banding together of these groups leads to nations and to societies where overall people are better off than living in their own little cave or mud hut. Since gays cannot produce children, I see no reason why they need to or should be allowed to marry. It serves no purpose in improving society as a whole.

You'd have to acknowledge it as a possibility before you have a "rule against" gay marriage.
