Considering the fact that Intel has yet to ship an AMD64 compatible processor, and that Intel's 90nm 32-bit parts can't keep up with AMD's 130nm parts, I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself.

Let's see just whether or not Intel can make up its present performance deficit with higher amperage sockets before you start counting those chickens.

IBM and Sun have seen AMD's 64-bit chips and Intel's clone and decided to put AMD's part in their enterprise systems for the first time - ever.

That should give you some hints about how well Intel's part performs relative to AMD's.

And AMD's second generation 90nm parts will sampling by the time Intel manages to get a first generation AMD64 clone out the door.

The problem for AMD is that they haven't sold very many 64 bit chips yet and the door is already closed.
