When did I say that? You've got me mixed up with someone else.
OK. You get a pass. Now spread the word among your buddies. Because a lot of them are spreading just that story. The way I remember this, it started decades ago. And when cheap long distance communications and transportation was achieved, something like the current problems were inevitable. And it's not just the US. Those Indians and Chinese are nailing Europe too.

Fair enough. Presidents have a **** of a lot less to do with the course of the economy than they or the public like to believe. Although since they mare so willing to take credit for the good times (a la Clinton), it does seem fair that they should get blamed for bad (and, were the boom still booming, I have absolutely no doubt Bush would be crowing and claiming credit).

BTW, I don't think you have to be a bloody genius to be a decent President. Some of the smartest have been some of the worst. Wilson certainly was intelligent- -and then led the nation into WW1 after swearing he wouldn't. Carter was smart- -and a total disaster.

I, for one, prefer not to have Britain's Labour Party direct our (US) foreign policy. You, teJERK, seem to feel otherwise.
