Not so, it is acknowledged. In that day, many were "slaves" of Romans. Not all were treated harshly, many were extensions of family, although not of their own choice. But, what Paul is saying is for consistent with Jesus' message, to serve..To win souls through serving. A slave was not freed by his masters, just because he became a follower of Christ.
