"Spawn of Satan" isn't in any version I use, but I think I recognize the general sentiment - He was talking against Pharisees, who "sit on Moses' seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice" what they preach. It's not about "the Jews." That's absurd. It's about hypocrites, and liars, who pretend to be holy but are corrupt. As for me, I am not arguing that the Gospels are as fantastic as the Odyssey or the legends of King Arthur. I realize I am trying to describe color to a blind woman, but thought I'd give it a try.
