I loaded RegCleaner and got the following error message and had to use control-Alt-Delete to close it.

The instructions at "Ox77f58e20" referenced memory at "Ox31333937". The memory could not be "written".

Click on ok to terminate the program.

Before I try a system recovery CD ..

I just want to confirm that I have in fact
killed my PC <sniff> ..

When I try to 'boot-up' I get a registry/configuration
error message and 4-boot options .. normal/safe mode/
bootlog/and step by step .. I've tried them all and
no go .. I end up with a black/white wallpaper
background with 'safe mode' printed in the corners

'ctrl-alt-del' just recycles me thru the process again

"Use SCANREG to correct this error" good advice but
if I can't figure out how to boot in MS-DOS .. then
that's not possible either ..

I'm about to try a system recovery CD and start from
scratch again .. but wanted to check here first ..

FYI .. It's a HP-Pavillion 5390-n notebook PC
running Windows ME OS ..

TIA
