I think one part of the problem is that we're still dealing with people in the govt. that were raised on Mary Jane the killer weed movies. Stupid people are already killing themselves with cocaine. I've never hear of anyone ODing on too much pot. Maybe if that happened they'd eat themselves to death <g>. Funny thing is that I can't ever remember running into anyone that had violent tendencies when stoned unlike alcohol and other drugs (they're even saying that about cigarettes now). Perhaps they'd try ripping off the local 7/11 of all their Twinkies but that's about it. It's a true sin how much money we're wasting on incarceration ($30K-$60K a year?) that doesn't include thousands of dollars per violator in court time police time and who knows what other time. In addition to all this the huge flow of money out of the country, no telling just how much damage that's doing to us. "It's also possible (although by no mans guaranteed) that if pot were legalized and other things left as they are, you might maybe get a significant drop in hard drug usage." I think so, but unfortunately we won't know until it's tried. It's like other things in this country, until there's money and respectability behind it no one in the govt would ever stick their necks out for decriminalization. Hope George Soros gets his full weight behind this soon. And that's about all I have to say about that <ggg>.
