Let's continue this here: Subject 54685 so as not to impose on LindyBill, who is indeed a kind and generous host. Yes Mel's dad is a crackpot, and Mel himself probably believes a lot of his father's theories. But to me that is beside the point. I'm of the Stanley Fish/Barthes/Derrida school, and don't place a great deal of importance on who created the text.

mel, i believe, does not accept the Pope John 23 changes amd belongs to a group in the catholic church that wants to reverse that. Mel provided the seed money to set up a "Roman Rites" Catholic Church in LA. A lot of traditionalists love the old rites and think the Church made a mistake when they got away from them and went to "Jesus and Guitars." I expect to hear a lot about that in the coming weeks. The Media is really going to go after him. Reviews will be savage. I understand British reviews are saying "most violent film ever shown. Worse than 'Clockwork Orange' and 'Reservoir Dogs'"
