Christianity is in a very disorganized state these days. Look at the uproar just because Mel Gibson chooses to accept the literal truth of the Gospels ... HORROR OF HORRORS, HE BELIEVES THE NEW TESTAMENT IS TRUE! The strain of Christianity that the media finds most acceptable is the Buddy Jesus kind, where everything is sweetness and light. Forget about all that smiting stuff, it wasn't meant to be taken literally. Anyone who is down with the Biblical Christian God (you know, the flood that wiped out pretty much everything, Job, all that hard to accept stuff) is branded a crackpot.
