The gov't opened a pandora's box when they decided to endorse a religious institution...that being marriage. The gov't shouldn't give a crap about the word marriage...All they should care about is the legal issues between two or more individuals. And we aren't talking interspecies stuff here. You can't enter a legal partnership with a parrot under any circumstances. Just apply the same partnership laws currently in place and you have no interspecies issues at all. The ramifications of a gay marriage are a boogeyman. It will happen, it is inevitable and we will all just go on living our lives.
