Our knowledge of the real life of Jesus is minimal... and tainted by the careful structuring and oversight by the Catholic nation and it's doctrine. Today's view is carefully scripted.... in a manner and towards a well defined end.

In the last 50 years.... The Dead Sea Scrolls, and other lost material... is offering somewhat different views on the life of Jesus. I suggest reading "Beyond Belief" by Eliane Pagels.

The fixation on Jesus' death as an "atonement for humanities sins" is overhyped in my opinion.... towards those well defined ends..... and is Not the most important element of his biblical life.

However, through the retained written records that have come down to us... the single most important element to his life and our journeys as human beings is his Resurrection and experience of the divine.

"It is not that we are human beings on a spiritual journey, but spiritual beings on a human journey."
