Moreover, Gore's approach to the August 2001 world conference against racism would have been very different than the one the Bush Administration took: Boycotting some of the proceedings leading up to the meeting and threatening to boycott the meeting itself.

There are some who argue that a more forthright American participation at this conference could have begun a dialogue to address many of the problems that have so angered Muslims in the world in respect to their image of the United States and what it stands for. Indeed, we see America as for freedom; they see America as for their repression.

Yes, the whole MidEast vibe would have been different had the popular will of Americans been able to keep its nod toward Gore instead of the Supreme Court's nod toward Bush.
