Hmaly, RE: "And both parties, Rep. and Dems, have supported Israel; so support of Israel isn't the vote getter, one might think."

Both Rep and Dem Parties have supported policies for middle east oil, not for Israeli people. Americans confuse their middle east policy for oil, with support for Israel, when it's not. Ironically, some American people then blame Israel for this too.

A USA oil policy is not the same thing as support for Israel.

I think it's untrue to say the USA supports the safety of the Israeli people. I think it's more accurate to say the USA supports the safety of their oil.

If the USA were truly more concerned about the safety of Israeli people (rather than oil), the USA would have been helping Israeli put an end to unemployment years ago, which is what originally fueled suicide bombers and the USA should have tried to find a way to help stop the settlement issue that is creating friction. This is what the USA could have done, if they truly cared about Israeli people, not middle east oil.

Several hightech people in Israel said the terrorists were a group of teenagers and twenty-somethings that were unemployed. Those that are out of work, are the hands of the devil. An old, but true expression.

Of course now that the violence and fighting has gotten so bad, who is to say what the answer is now since things have gone too far. Compare Japan to Palestine. Palestine is being blown up one by one, without the venue nor hope for rebuilding its country or its people. Japan was taken out, but at least it was given a future. We learned from Germany, what some people can do that have no hope for jobs - they did absolutely horrible things.

A long time ago, I think our country's policy should have been a drastic unemployment initiative in Israel (that would have in turn helped the unemployed Palestinians who were free to enter Israel). But now that the violence and destruction of Palestines infrastructure is so deep, at this point, the only way I can see things improving is if some country takes them over and completely rebuilds it from scratch and gives the people hope. The current method of hanging them on a yoyo and dipping them into burning oil with no hope of jobs, is going to make things worse, not better. The hope for jobs, is the cure. The trick now for policy makers is, how do you provide jobs when a) they might funnel this money back to terrorists and b) when their country has a policy that refuses to take Israeli investment money to build corporations that generate employment. This is why the answer might be: stop the settlements and create an unemployment initiative in Israeli to reduce the number of unemployed Palestines. Those who don't work, are the tools of the devil.

The hope for jobs, minimizes violence. If people are happy with their potential prospects, they are less apt to be violent.

This is according to my contacts in Israel, who I believe are correct.
