"Like it or not there was such a person." None of the "events" in the Gospels are evidenced in history--NOT ONE. Give me one line in one verse in one chapter and link it to ONE historical reference, and we can discuss "Jesus". As to Chesterton...I recently read ALL of his writings (you were partly responsible for that). I found his fiction to exhibit a singular fixation and a neurotic element. Oh, I admit he had some talent. But he was surely a troubled fool.
