when you are predicting something, that has no statistical reference *yet*, anecdotal evidence is all you have to go on.

Maybe the difference between the Clinton team economists and the Bush team is an ability to react to anecdotal evidence. Bottom line- when workforce shifts are causing economic turmoil, and you have no exposure to the workforce because you are too old or an out of touch crony (read: Bush economic team)- you are going to get blindsided.

You can't really blame the RWEs on SI for thinking that the 7% GDP meant a boom, because BushCo also presented it like that. But blindly following clueless leaders isn't exactly a recipe for successful investing.

BTW I think we'll actually get a decent jobs report friday but wage pressure continues. It will be interesting to see whether CNBC picks up on reality or not or tries to spin it as another "Bush boom"
