Greenpeace was protesting French nuclear bomb tests at Mururoa atoll and had called into Auckland harbour en route. Francois Mitterand, Charles Hernu and co sent some frog men [and a frog woman] by submarine and on a yacht and with an inflatable boat to bomb and sink the Rainbow Warrior, which they did, killing a photographer. My goodness you can stretch things far. Sorry mq, you do not get to pin that one on America no matter how twisted you write the story up. NZ and France must be allies too. :o)
