Which are the states to watch as returns come in? Will President Bush's backing of a proposed constitutional amendment defining marriage help or hurt him in the general election? (Other than Al Sharpton) Tucker Carlson: You're right that Sharpton would be a great running mate. Sadly, you're also right that he doesn't have a chance of being picked. (And yet the Democrats still pretend to be the party of diversity. Outrageous.) I don't think Kerry will pick Edwards, and not just because the two apparently don't like each other. It's not clear Edwards could bring North Carolina. And why would Kerry want to run with a guy that much more charming than he is? Ultimiately I don't think it much matters who the VP pick is, as long as he's not too embarrassing. Personally, I'd choose Gov. Bill Richardson. Appealing guy, with real diplomatic experience. On the other hand, there's also the Monica connection. So who knows. _______________________ Washington, D.C.: Mr. Carlson: I LOVED your book! I have recommended it to many. Super Tuesday? Yawn. Who cares? Everyone knows the nominee will be Kerry, but I guess it is not polite at this point for all the pundits to plainly say it out loud. Tucker Carlson: Thanks. I agree with you about Super Tuesday. I'll try to say it out loud tonight, though in the end I may go ahead and pretend it's a terribly significant event.
