" With a stronger dollar, ``there'll be less intervention from foreigners, notably the Japanese, and because of less intervening there'll be less dollars to move into Treasuries, so a stronger dollar becomes a negative for the Treasury market,'' said Brian Edmonds, head of Treasury trading at Banc of America Securities LLC in New York. The firm is one of 23 primary U.S. government securities dealers that trade with the Fed's New York branch. "

Sounds good, but who will step up to the plate to buy US debt? I guess if interest rates go high enough they will find buyers. A stronger dollar and a rising interest rate? Seems counter intuitive as they both serve to undermine business and job creation. Will the miracle of a rising dollar, job creation and low interest rates happen?

I wonder if Fed hikes, based on assumed job increases
the fact that he holds rates fixed tells me two things

1. economic growth is fictitious, with job gains much less than reported

2. the entire economy is afloat from mortgage support, and other substantial bond leverage

I think AG is jawboning the hedge funds about derivatives.
Talking about interest rates to the masses is a waste. He can't raise them. It could start the tsunami. And, AG says I should get an adjustable rate mortgage. When was the last time AG made "product recommendations"? It's like telling Soros to short the dollar. Is he sending a strong signal? Where was it directed? To consumers? Lenders?

Some sources say that SS is fine. Why all the rush? What happened to the SS Report Dick Parsons did for the Administration? Parsons, Powell, Powell. Did the Administration know that Greenspan was going to go on record on SS? Did they know Kay was off the reservation?

PS. Where would the economy be if the dollar had held up?
