Tonto, the date is critically important for the Dems. If it is officially changed to October or November 2000, the term "Bush Recession" becomes politically inoperable in Big Media. (Although the wacko sites will no doubt continue to use it.)

The GOP creates lies like "the CLinton recession" (there was none, started March 2001), "Gore says he invented the internet" (never said that), Kerry voted against every weapons system we used in Iraq (Cheney and Bush Sr. supported the same cost-saving objectives), "Kerry voted to cut intel funding" (only satellite funding, wanted more human intelligence funding instead, very smart), etc. etc.

The big lies of the rightwing are legion and really pile up. They create urban myths like "Sudan offered up OB while Clinton was with Monica" (not true at all, and 9-11 happened on Bush's watch not Clinton's) etc. Just a big fat dishonest bunch of rightwingers led by the Hannity, Limbaugh and Enron Ed Gillespie types to disinform for a living
