How? $2k is the limit per person. Amy, do you think that 77,500 people gave 2k each to Bush's campaign to come up with his $155 million? I find that hard to believe. Isn't there someway to get around that 2k per person limit? PACs?The only way I see a person can donate more, is if they open up a non-profit like moveon.org. On another note, can a person donate more than $2k to moveon.org, since it's not directly the Democratic Party? I don't know..........to be honest, I don't much about campaign reform but from the way Ten and others were talking, I thought there was ways around that $2k limit.RE: "Kerry's behind Bush by a hundred million dollars." It's truly disgusting that it now takes more than $100M to drive a campaign. Wasn't it only a few years ago, a person could run a campaign on $20M? Our country's debt has increased two fold in 3 years, while the total debt levels have grown 7 times. Money is cheap, when you are a country in debt. I couldn't agree more with you. Its a disgrace. It makes it very hard for someone who is poor or middle class to run for president. RE: "I'm afraid Kerry's house in Boston isn't worth that much. <g>" Know you're aren't saying this, but some people try to make a big deal about the fact he is married to someone that has money. Big deal. You can find wealthier people at Microsoft. Actually, I was joking about the fact that he took out a second mortgage on his house last month to keep his campaign going. As for her wealth, you're absolutely right......she's eastern old money. Often, there is very little money left with those people.....its been divided and divided over and over again decade after decade.A lot of us thought it was really unfair how the media attacked his wife for looking bored at his speaches, when in fact she was simply being thoughtful. She comes across as an intelligent person. I think the whole family looks like a class act.But the one thing I find unusual about Kerry, is how he targeted women that had brandname. If you look at the list of women he dated, they all had brandname. It's an interesting coincidence. Are you suggesting he's a moneygrubber? <g>It makes him look like he was shopping for something in particular. It makes me question the depth of his character and his level of substance. He comes across as a sponge to me. Absorbs other people's ideas, but doesn't hold his own strong convictions. OTOH, maybe that's not such a bad thing for a politician whose job is to represent the people. I hope you're wrong. I believe it takes someone of substantive character to come back from a war in which you fought bravely and conclude that the war was a mistake and fight to end it. Then again that was thirty years ago......people change. Nonetheless, I hope he's more than a sponge. If the AP poll is correct, Nadar is going to cost us yet another election. I'm finding it hard to respect Nadar's decision to enter the race. Everyone has a right to enter the race, but Nadar is missing the bigger picture. Ditto.......although I think Nader's star is on the descendant. Six percent may be as good as it gets. ted
