The Real Meaning of Jihad

I've seen 5 or 10 essays like the one you posted which are the words of muslims from all over the world. In none of them have I seen any blame placed on the way people are taught while they are growing up. In none of them have I seen any blame placed on the radical clerics which preach in most mosques. In the US alone I have seen it estimated that 75% of the clerics are radical muslims. Until this is addressed there isn't much hope for a change in the way they think. Hate for the west is pounded into their heads from when they are children clear into old age. How could anyone expect them to think any different considering this. Much of the money for such teaching comes from Saudi Arabia.

As I see it there are 2 ways to defeat terrorism. One is through massive force or fear. The other is through changing the things which they are taught which would take many years. At the present we haven't done near what we should have to advance either of these solutions.

Yet those Muslims who hold sympathies for him do so not because they believe he carried out the repulsive attacks of September 11, but rather because they believe he did not; that the case against bin Laden has yet to be conclusively proven. It's an important distinction.

He did not carry out the attack because he was not there. However he did plan and authorize the attack.

The previous Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Ibn Baz, condemned all attacks on civilians and the spreading of civil strife in the name of jihad.

This condemnation came years before September 11 when such fatwas became fashionable. His successor has condemned September 11 and called for the perpetrators of the Riyadh bombings to be brought to justice.
