I don't think the Dems are idiots.

What I do KNOW is that they are backing anyone who is not GW Bush. That doesn't get you very far.

It is unlikely that much of that Dem anger and frustration will be productively harnessed into positive campaign strategy and action.

Recall the 1st half of the primary: First the dems wanted Kerry with, at best, muted enthusiasm. Then the spotlight shifted to Dean and the Dems liked him by a wide margin, largely because he was an unkown with no past, and used the web very effectively.

Then the clinton puppet clark, with no political track record, jumped in from nowhere, and he instantly grabbed the lead among Dems even though the dems obviously knew nothing about him. Then dean got the lead back, briefly. Meanwhile, Kerry's campaign faltered badly and his campaign manager took a 10-day vacation to France at a critical time, and the money flow to kerry dried up. Then kerry fired his senior people and took out a $6.4 mill campaign loan against his wife's townhouse.

Meanwhile John Edwards was going around with that permanent smile, never saying anything of substance, afraid to criticize any of the other candidates because he knew he was just in it for a chance at VP.

Then the night of Iowa, Dean screamed, and from then on it was Kerry all the way.

So there's clearly not much excitement about Kerry, even among the Dems. It's just that he's the Dem establishment candidate, and he's not Bush, and in the end, the Dem establishment got their way.
