The issue is not if Martha sentence was right or wrong the issue is that many many people who are politically well connected engage in much more lucrative schemes to defraud the public or the US Government or it's agencies and they are not charged / brought to justice because their connection.

the other issue was a clear bias of the jury based on revenge and envy - it was very clear to me after the juror spoke to the media. The guy was a disgrace he sought to capitalize for his own benefit from the trial

Chris:

Here is my problem. She was basically convicted of lying to the government. I have a problem with that being a crime. I think the crime should be when the government lies to us, which they do practically everytime a politician or bureaucrat opens his or her mouth.

Here in Baltimore the current scandal is that the school board can't account for $500,000,000 to $800,000,000 that is right 500 million to 800 million, they are not sure of the amount and all the pols are doing is trying to point the finger at the other guy. Compared to these clowns Martha is a piker, but they will never go after the reallly big guys.

Chris,

I'm in complete agreement with Haim. You are missing the forest for the trees.

Martha was taken down because she wasn't a team player. While criminals like Ken Lay, David Komansky, George Bush, Philip Purcell and Dick Cheney walk free, Martha is pilloried over a trifling matter.

Why? Because she isn't part of the good ol' boy club of criminally insane old men who are running this country into a ditch as soon as they can.

We have a disgusting leadership in this nation who in any sane society would be serving hard time and paying restitution.
