RtS,

<<It's very encouraging for those of us who are long that the SMH and SOX continued to hold up well despite the double whammy of INTC's lowered expectations .....>>

I think it is very possible that the market was anticipating the INTC reduction for several weeks now and the news was already priced in the stock. INTC has been in a down trend for several weeks - down 15 percent since 12 Jan as the table shows.

<<Sector performance suggests that we are in the late phase of an economic expansion.>>

????? I can't believe Arthur Hill said that!;) I think that's what happens sometimes when a person(AH) only looks at charts in the macro and doesn't look at some of the details.

However, having said that, apparently he is not the only one who is looking at the economy in that light. We have had previous posts on this thread pointing out "entities" who see the "end in sight" and have gotten out of the semiconductor area because they believe the second half gains of this year, if any, will be low and 2005 is a down year. Talk about hedging your bets early - this takes the cake!;)

The following is an input which is not so negative, as a matter of fact, is quite positive. While people look at analysts predictions with a jaundiced eye, and properly so, the following was posted on Friday:

- TARGET
- PRICE
CMOS Merriman Curhan Ford Buy $30
KLIC Merriman Curhan Ford Buy $34
LTXX Merriman Curhan Ford Buy $33
TER Merriman Curhan Ford Buy $44

Note that the 4 stocks cited above closed on Friday at, CMOS(11.85), KLIC(12.72), LTXX(15.71) and TER(24.05). Obviously, MCF does not think the present expansion is over and about to die.
