Carter was the first president ever born in a hospital. All it takes is one break in your genealogy where there are no surviving records and you have a dead end. You may not be able to trace your surname far back, but you might get further back with some of the maiden names. * * *

According to my father, his father had traced the family tree of his wife, my paternal grandmother, back to Queen Mary of Scots. I never saw any documentation, just his word. The only name I remember is the maiden name of the grandmother in question: Bostwick. My grandfather died in 1967 and my father in 1960. I guess if it were true, then if enough people in the right places die soon, I could be the King of England and France. King Chas.... No thanks, I'll take a buyout, or hush money, instead. :)
