You may want to talk to this guy about your Scout rebuild, he's good on off roading Jeeps. Not that Jeeps are Scouts but it is rebuilding and off roading.

My problems are..adoptions, the depression, moving away from families...it is just too difficult to trace back.

Forgive me if I missed some of the dialog, but here is one link to help research geneology. distantcousin.com I have others. Some times you can run in to a family website, like I did, that takes you way back. Some of my ancestors on the tree were born in the fifteenth century. Maybe there is a geneology board on SI. I'll check and get back to you.
