The written language is not the ordinary medium of doing business, although I suppose that everyone could walk around with chalk and boards, writing an ideogram at a time.

Germany, Holland, and Denmark are fine. They are not, however, one country. Even in Belgium, less than 20% of the population is bilingual, and most of the Flemish and Walloons keep to their own side, including where business is concerned. Remember, this was brought up as a point making cooperation among the best minds more difficult, though not impossible.
