This Wednesday March 10 is Tibetan National Uprising Day in memory of the nearly 80,000 Tibetans killed by the Chinese Army in Lhasa -1959. The Tibetan activist community is protesting the death sentence given Tulku Tenzin Deleg and the imprisonment of other political prisoners. They also demand the release of the 11th Panchen Lama a 6 year old boy taken into custody and held by Chinese authorities.

As a result of the Chinese occupation:

Nearly 1 million Tibetans have died
6000 monasteries have been destroyed
Tibetans have been routinely imprisoned and tortured for non-violently expressing their views
Freedom of religion is severely curtailed
Nuns have been brutally raped in Chinese prisons
China is encouraging large scale settlement of non-Tibetans into Tibet
A nuclear facility and waste dump has been constructed in the northern region of Tibet

China has rejected negotiations with the Dalai Lama though he has met their demands.
