S. California below LA is predominantly Republican. Orange County gave us "B-1" Bob Dornan. San Diego gave us Pete Wilson, Arnold's political guru. The town next to where I used to live, Vista, had it's school board secretly taken over by creationists, who wanted to ban the teaching of evolution from the schools. Some parts of S. Cal. seemed to me more conservative than Austin, TX., where I moved from.
