John Re...Iraq has the second highest reserves in the world, and the easiest (cheapest) oil to exploit. It makes a difference.

While cheap to produce, Iraq's oil, when sold, will bring the same price, as OPEC's, which currently is about $35/bbl. Secondly, I didn't say no difference. I said much of a difference.

The oil companies will do what is profitable, not patriotic.

The oil companies will do what is patriotic, if it is profitable. There is a difference. The oil companies would want to do both, if possible.

The key is leadership to get us out of this economic and political death spiral, and it's not there on the R/D side.

Sad but true. Part of the reason given for Cheney's secret meeting with the oil companies, was so that the oil companies could speak freely, without fear of either side demagogueing the issue.
