"I am all for political free speech"

Clearly your post demonstrates otherwise.

"I don't think it's fair that certain interests with deep pockets should be allowed to dominate the discussion."

Please tell me what interests you perceive that are dominating the discussion. Please tell me what views are not being put forth. I would suggest to you that everyone has the ability to express their point of view in this country and that it is being done every day. Tell me what views you think are not being articulated.

"Explain how having more money and access to the press makes all political speech equal"

The constitution does not require all political speech to be equal, whatever that means. It says and I quote:

"Congress shall make not law ....abridging the freedom of speech or of the press;..."

Congress has violated the first amendment and the facisti i.e. Supreme Court has approved their action.

"Something needs to be done to equitably level the playing field & at the same time let politicians spend their time working for the electorate rather than their main priority of raising campaign funds"

How do you perceive that limiting the freedom of speech of citizens who are not politicians accomplishes this? Since McCain Feingold have you noticed any change? The law was written to be circumvented by politicians and to limit organized opposition by non politicos so we can't threaten their position. The Supreme Court was complicit in this nonsense.
