Stocks plunged in the afternoon after reports that al
Qaeda, not Basque group E.T.A., claimed responsibility for the
bombings in Spain. Such a horrible day there. These people were
absolutely completely innocent. Why do people do this? What do
they want? Makes me so angry I could scream! Wonder whether the
Europeans will fell more compelled to assist in certain
search-and-destroy
missions going on in the Pakistani frontier?... Stocks plunged in the afternoon after reports that al

Tribal force launches hunt for wanted men

WANA: Tribes on Thursday raised a force of 600 armed men to launch a hunt for people sheltering al-Qaeda suspects in the rugged South Waziristan region, clan leaders said.

"Equipped with automatic weapons, the tribal force left for Aazam Warsak, 15 kilometres west of South Waziristan’s main town Wana, said Malik Anwer Khan, chief of the Ghulam Khel tribe.

"The armed group plans to launch a house-to-house search on Saturday if it fails to convince the local people to hand over the wanted people," Khan told AFP. The force was raised after government authorities on Wednesday warned tribesmen of harsh action if they failed to hand over seven locals wanted for providing shelter to al-Qaeda members in the area.

The dominant Wazir tribe assured local administration official Rehmatullah Wazir that they would form an armed group to launch their own hunt for the wanted men. Tribal elders have also warned that if the people wanted by the authorities fled ahead of the planned search operation the armed force would demolish their houses. They have also announced a fine of one million rupees for the owner of the house.
