How can the UN play a leadership role when terrorist-sponsoring nations have served on the security counsel?

What possible credibility can they have?

Maybe one of the best potential outcomes of the current terrorism scare is a "N(ew)UN with teeth."

Re: The UN and A-Q...In view of the article LB inserted here on the UN and the Oil-for-Food Scandal (from the WSJ March 11, 2004)....

Considering the years that the UN had to change this program (and obviously didn't have the guts to do so), then it is beyond me how anyone can expect the UN to act in a speedy manner, much less with any hope of actually stopping the murdering terrorists.

Will France be next? Or Greece this summer? Or London? Or anyplace in the US?

What you say is so true: "Running after terrorists after the bombs go off is not a viable solution."

" The UN must decide whether to support or implement some real action, ""...

Indeed.

The UN has had resolution after resolution that explicitly demand that Israel remove itself from the occupied territory of the Palestinians , but each and every time these resolutions have been vetoed by the US of A.

So are you suggesting the UN take action against America and Israel to implement a peace progress in the ME to restore order to the region and take away most of the motivation for these terror attacks?

Is this what you want the UN to do?

KC

Running after terrorists after the bombs go off is not a viable solution.

So putting all suspects in US concentration camps?:
guardian.co.uk

"Shafiq Rasul, Ruhal Ahmed and Asif Iqbal, the so-called 'Tipton Three', speaking for the first time since their release at a secret location in southern England, have disclosed to The Observer the fullest picture yet of life inside the camp on Cuba where America continues to hold 650 detainees.
After more than 200 interrogation sessions each, with the CIA, FBI, Defence Intelligence Agency, MI5 and MI6, America has been forced to admit its claims that the three were terrorists who supported al-Qaeda had no foundation."

How do you know a terrorist before the bombing? Having a beard, black eyes and reading the Koran?
Do you have a beard and black eyes? Better you don't read the Koran.
