You have pointed out some major issues. I also have been involved in doing much pro bono environmental work. It is very frustrating operating at that level. What happens is that regulations, for good reasons, become so all consuming that committees and consultants wind up spending all the valuable resources and, usually repeat the same stuff over and over at meeting after meeting. The audience is either bored from repetition or bored because they can't understand extremely esoteric, albeit perhaps well-meaning regulations and commentary. The net result is that those who defend the environment, often volunteers, get worn down and give up.

That's why we need leadership from the top down so I have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. We have our candidates both saying that they are "for the environment" and, I suspect, both would follow pretty much the same path.
