<making a deal with the devil will not save them from that eventual trip to hell>

My prediction: the Islamists won't bomb Spain any more, once Spanish troops are off Muslim soil. That is, I'll predict that the Spanish change of strategy works.

Second prediction: the Islamists will continue to find ways to kill the citizens of all nations that do have troops occupying Muslim nations, for as long as the occupations last.

Notice, that the Spanish are switching from Offense, to Defense, not Surrender (although the militarists will try hard to label Defense as Surrender). They are not adopting pacifism, or unilateral disarmament. They intend to increase their efforts at Homeland Security.

Re Leaders lead.. That's what they are paid to do. And sometimes they must make decisions that are not popular

Going to a war with the support by less than 20% of the people, lying about the reasons, another lying about the terrorists of the Madrid bombing: that's not "unpopular". It's politically insane and it's political fantasy land.

And in a working democracy with working public information channels, it's clear what's going to happen under such circumstances.

Spain was #1. Stay tuned.
