Since 9-11 obesity and tobacco have killed 1000 times as many civilians in the USA as al Qaeda. Mind the proportions.

MM,
They have also decentralized enough to get local groups to do their dirtywork under local conditions. Note that there were no suicide martyr in spain. They may not have been basques but they were indeed local spanish/muslims involved that were willing to kill but not be killed. Martyrdom meant little to them but perhaps discrimination and violence against their local communities in spain had something to do with it. Same in turkey where there are local reasons for the groups who blew up the jewish center, and God forbid exactly the same elswhere in europe where even scarves are banned by one well known country(hint former superpower 1000 years ago). No we in the US are not immune but we traditionally do a better job of integrating immigrants so it is less likely here. Mike
