It feels a lot like 1938 right now, in terms of political instability. Things finally calmed down around 1955. Less than 20 years of madness that go-round. A mere trifle in geological time. ;')

There is so much going on that the crisis in Haiti does not make the evening news.
Like you say, I wonder if there will ever be a calm period. Perhaps part of the reason
we are so sensitive to the world's calamities is because we are tied so closely to world
events by the internet.
