It isn't a question of different interpretations of a message. I was not looking at Krauthammer's message. I was asking for a definition of terminology. We need to know what words mean if we are to understand each other. Blue can't mean green, even though there's a mushy demarcation on the spectrum where blue turns into green. If Bush makes a speech and says he wants to drain the swamp in, say, Columbia, we should know whether he's talking about flushing out drug cartels or replacing the country's government and institutions.

No one has any argument that the Spaniards won't go after terrorists in Spain. Thats a foregone conclusion.


I didn't mean to sound like I was arguing with you over anything. If I was arguing, it sure wasn't about Spain, only the definition of the term. It's not something you can look up in the dictionary. I did some googling and didn't get clarity and thought you might know whether the expression was evolving in meaning or not. Since you use it a lot, I presume you at least know what you mean by it. Sorry to have imposed.
