<Why invoke the Nazis, as if we had tried to take over our neighbors and sought global empire?> 1) Because most of the people on the planet believe some variation of this thanks to Bush/Cheney. 2) Because we invaded Iraq in defiance of the UN while brushing the UN aside as "irrelevant". 3) Because we operate a global network of military bases in other peoples countries -- now expanded to include Iraq on what appears to be a permanent basis. 4) Because we constantly tell people that we will not allow any international institution or arrangement to place any limit on our power. 5) That we are, for the moment, the only "superpower". 6) That we have a President who is on a democratic "crusade" on behalf of God. 7) That we have a group of self-styled "neocons" who have wormed their way into positions of power and used 9/11 as a pretext to launch their "grand plan" for the middle east.
