Working and collecting Social Security means one is earning little...

Answer: In April 2000, the law that determines what happens when you work and get benefits at the same time was changed. This change in law applies to widow(er)s as well as retired workers.

While you're working, your benefit amount will now be reduced only until you reach your full retirement age, not up to age 70. SS will use this formula to determine how much your benefit must be reduced: If you are under full retirement age (currently age 65) when you start getting your Social Security payments, $1 in benefits will be deducted for each $2 you earn above the annual limit. For 2003 that limit is $11,520.

Good for you JDN. I enjoy hearing this sort of thing. I hope you continue saving. And if you have no debt, don't take on any. America is about to suffer one amazingly brutal ride. When it is fully over, America will be a socialist state. Find now where you might live, and if you've stored enough acorns, you need not suffer much at all.
