Rummy et al arrogantly ignored career military men and went in with:

- too light a force
- too quickly leaving supply lines vulnerable
- without any idea of what to do after the government fell

If there was SECURITY in Iraq, the UN building may not have been bombed and the UN might still be there. That is, of course, supposing that Shrub et al didn't keep dissing them for no reason.

That was not UN peace keepers in that office, that was the aid office...civilians.

It was stupid of the Americans to allow the aid office to operate with NO security. Sitting ducks they were.

But to equate a UN military force with aid workers is just daft. As daft as letting the aid office go unprotected.

I am aware of what happened. But was it not because the UN was cooperating with the US? Isn't US at the center of all this? If the US quits Iraq and the UN goes in, then UN will not be attacked. But people doubt US intentions in Iraq and US willingness to move out.

The Iraqis are happy that they are free from the clutches of Saddam. But they have expressed resentment at US presence too.
