Apparently it wasn't "outrageous" enough to forego getting that 30 year pension socked away and the book to the printers before sharing his "outrageous" news.

Clark is a J. Edgar Hoover style power-meister.. Notice that CBS is getting some trouble for not disclosing that the publishing house is also owned by Viacom, which owns CBS.

On a side note, a friend of mine, who used to work for the State Department, mentioned to me that Clark apparently was of the alternate sexual persuasion. I can readily see this being used to undermine his credibility (not saying that this strategy would be proper or defensible).

He was also apparently known for having "the goods" on quite a few people.. So it makes him quite dangerous to attack directly.

Of course, this is all second hand. Take it for what it's worth.
