I hope you get the boat on the water this year, Ish. Those fish must be missing you.

As to dogs, I guess ours aren't that quality. 2 were in the house and either freaked out or didn't notice anything wrong enough to wake them. As we fought the fire, Puppy stayed in her room, shivering. I finally found Erin, the outdoor dog, huddled in a ball under the deck. I guess the barn maybe did that flashpoint thing. It was a heck of a hot ball of flame when I looked out the window when the neighbor called. but it was when I ran upstairs for my folks and saw the flames at the back of the house thru the sunporch windows that got me a tad concerned. quite a feeling. It was burning on all sides of us. Fortunately, to the east and west there are creeks that we could just let it burn down to, so that stopped it reaching neighbors.
At the top of the hill in back is a road that they waited for it at and could take care of it. The barn was toast, though, much to late by the time they got here. It's all volunteer crews around here, though, and their speed and work were something to see. The crews around here work awfully hard. They respond to fires, wrecks, medical calls, fights... you name it. Takes a lot of dedication.
