that is very sad about the dog. I was so happy when I finally found Erin. A neighbor down the hill in the holler said the deer were streaming across her yard, headed towards the river.

I sure do have an appreciation for the consuming power of fire now. The only thing I think can compare would be a hurricane or typhoon. But the heat from the fire is unique. I'd gotten to writing about fire a lot again before this... but I think I might not now. lol. tempting fate there! I wrote this just before it happened...

in my hand
i held desolation
fist tight
in fear of the past
slowly opening my fingers
ash released on the wind
i heard Her gentle laughter
as the breeze deftly danced
painting from the bleak
colors of emptiness
a new dream
of vibrant hues
in the silence
i felt Her touch
december sun
warm on my cheek
"silly child, do you still doubt?"

uhm, dear universe, I did not mean that literally, it was a poem!!!
