He still cannot figure out why Saddam didn't do it under the supervision of the inspectors, which was required, or why there was no adequate paperwork. He also cannot figure out some of the obstructionism which aroused suspicion at the time, and played into the Administrations hands, like requiring the scientists to be "handled", instead of interviewed privately.

We should stop thinking of an orderly (Iraqi) administration. I imagine a lot of incoherence and also ressentments over continued humiliation.

With more patience and secret negotiations with Iraqis, it might have been possible to oust Saddam and a kind of take over/change of governmental structures.
Miltitaristic threat and pressure was immense. Best to keep it up and try everything. Still cheaper than an invasion.
Like in chess: A threat is more dangerous than its execution.
For a certain time, I thought the Admin is that smart and only the president is dull.

But Admin just wanted badly the war. Everthing hints in in this direction.

Now everything gets more difficult by the day and costly little buddie Sahron ist additionally dancing on presidents nose. Road map. Hah!
