Dear Niceguy,

Buggi can be right, he can be wrong too. I think chances that he is wrong are higher than that he is right for as far as his interpretation of Henri Richards comments is concerned. In that aspect I therefore disagree with both you and Buggi:

Henri Richard could have declined to comment, instead he confirmed guidance. If he would still have to comment and if guidance would be way off and we're e.g. in for higher earnings than Q4, and higher revenues than Q4, he would have formulated it differently saying something like: As you know our guidance provided last earnings CC is that....., and I've got nothing to add to it. I think it's pretty sure that he could safely confirm guidance simply because it matches reality close enough.

BTW, I do really highly value your opinion because for me it provides a boundary to one extreme.

My opinion is that AMD will post a Q1 profit (no special charges included) of between 3 and 7 c. I think 3c is good because of forward positive guidance, and 7c would be very good. Also posted this on ihub an hour or so ago. (I'd consider 0c not bad, while -3c I'd consider bad, but I think we'll see between 3 and 7c).

Just saw Buggi thinks the same for as far as profit is concerned: investorshub.com

I agree with him that the real question is A64 volumes, and related to that the A64/XP volumes ratio. That's where we might see a positive surprise. Let's say I do like Keith's hint, similar to what others seem to do too. That should lead to rather good profits starting with 90nm being on time.

Kind regards,

Rink

niceguy,

It is entirely possible for AMD to have higher sales, and to pull a turkey out of a hat (in term of costs) and still have lower profits than Q4.
