When CW graduated from high school it was all the rage for parents to pay hundreds of dollars to have movies made by a professional who took all the adorable pictures of your child and edited it along with music of your choosing into a touching little video of his life.
Well, all my pictures were in shoeboxes and I didn't remember who was who anyway. And spending all that money wasn't appealing either, so instead I wrote a book for him--CW's life starting with the night I went into labor with him, right through his high school graduation. Many of the chapters sprang from posts here. THere is one based on a guide Freddie posted about sorting dirty clothes. There is one based on a post I wrote to someone who had just had a baby about how quickly the time goes. There is one about school projects and I shamelessly stole X and Cobalt Blue's very funny comments about their own children.
Poor Ammo-- I started one for him, but like everything else that happens to the second child, this one still sits half-completed on my hard drive. Some of his stories started here also, like how the Emergency Room had a chair with his name on it, and one about his walking up during the honors assembly and getting certificates when his name wasn't called while the principal kept patting him on the back, impressed.
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to DAR. I don't think I ever would have written a thing had I not found a voice here.
Gee, I;m going to get all teary. Better go make dinner.
